Things to Consider Before Buying a Mid Ranged SmartPhone
If smartphone manufactures are going to provide you with a high performing device, on a budget. There are certain things they have to forgo, such as ensuring that the phone is IP water and dust resistance. Here are two fundamental things you should consider before buying a mid-range smartphone.
Design &Built – Manufactures use plastics instead of steel metal to cover the body phone. The bad thing about plastic is that it can break easily if it falls. Ensure that you handle your phone with care.
Battery capacity – Nothing is annoying as your phone running out power. If you are going to buy a mid-ranged phone, ensure that the battery capacity is big enough to last you an entire day.

Display & Design
Samsung has turned over a new leaf on the screen display. The Samsung Galaxy A50 brings a new design from Samsung, its frame and back panel are made of plastic, while gorilla glass 3 protects the screen.
Samsung hasn’t cut corners with the screen, the Super AMOLED 6.4 inch screen has a 1080 resolution, they did not curve it like the Galaxy S series. The Galaxy A series has a flat-screen display, and this reduces the accidental touches that come with having a curved display edge.
Samsung Galaxy A50 has U shaped notched for the selfie camera that can be masked with a black bar. The screen looks great with deep black and great color accuracy on the device. You enjoy the brightness of the device, especially when you are using it outdoors in the sun.
The back shiny material reflects the colors in a holographic way, making it hard for you to decide the exact color you are looking at. You will be mesmerized with the color change effect that comes from the Samsung Galaxy A50.
Even though the materials of the A50 is made of plastic, you won’t notice that you are using a cheap phone. The slim edge makes it easy for you to grasp the smartphone in your hands.
There is no IP68 dust and water certification, so make sure that you carefully use the phone, especially around water bodies.
The Samsung Galaxy A 50 comes with under-display fingerprint readers, though it’s not responsive as the newer Galaxy models that we’ve seen being released in 2020. The face unlock is also available, though it is not as secure as the fingerprint display.
Chipset & Performance of the Galaxy A50
Samsung Galaxy A 50 runs on the EXYNOX 9610 chipset and with either 4 GB or 6GB of RAM, depending on the phone you select.
The user interphase on the Galaxy A50 is the same as the one found in S10. The new One UI and Android Pie 9. It brings some heavy customizations, but it’s easy to use and it has colorful notifications easy to reach when using the device.
There is a lot of storage available with the Samsung Galaxy A50, 64 GB, or 128 GB onboard and it is expandable through the Micro SD. There are plenty of applications that come pre-installed with the phone such as the gallery app, the health app, and the file manager among others.
The digital Bixby is also available, though it doesn’t have a dedicated button like the one we have seen in the 2020 flagships released by Samsung such as the Galaxy S20.
Performance is great and you would depend on it to get you through your day-to-day tasks. The phone operates smoothly without heating when playing 3D games.
The audio performance of the Galaxy A 50 is not so great. The speaker is at the bottom together with the USB port. It plays good loud audio even though the sound is lacking high frequency, and it distorts the sound when being played at full volume.
Battery Capacity & Charging
The battery of the Galaxy A50 is excellent with 4000mAh, it can last you up to 98 hours when using it continuously. The phone also supports 15 watts of fast charging.
The Galaxy A 50 has a triple camera on the back, there is a 25 MP main camera that takes stellar images in daylight set up, the dynamic range is average, the colors in the photos appear warmer when you turn on the HDR.
The 8MP ultra-wide camera gives you brilliant colors and contracts on the images with an average dynamic range.
In portrait mode, the 5 MP depth sensor camera takes brilliant images with fine details on the images, which is impressive for a mid-range phone.
The galaxy A 50 selfie camera takes great selfies with significant details with spot-on colors.
The phone can also record great videos at 1080 P @30fps. The electronic stabilization does a stellar job.

She said I thought this phone would wow me after reading all the reviews and coming from a true budget phone. The fingerprint sensor is ok, fails sometimes, and I have no screen protector. It takes excellent pictures, but again, I can only compare with not so great phones.
AD thought Samsung could have done better with their products
The phone failed miserably on its phone experience- speaker quality is sub-par, on the smartphone side, its average-screen is good (not great), the camera is sub-par, the screen touch is slow and freezes.
