Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is a flagship smartphone that’s making a splash in the market. This was the first phone to announce in February 2020 that it will have a 108 MP camera tech months earlier before Samsung announced the Galaxy S20 Ultra will also have a 108 MP camera lens.
I have reviewed if the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro can give Samsung and Apple a run for their money.
Things to Consider Before Buying a Flagship Phone
Water and Dust Resistance
A flagship device should have the IP68 water and dust resistance certification. That way you have the peace of mind that comes from being guaranteed that the phone is waterproof.
The other reason you would spend premium money on the device is that it comes with a high refresh rate. A phone with a refresh rate of 90Hz and above will see you enjoy your browsing experience.
The quality of videos and photos that your phone takes is a big deal. Would be best to ensure that you are getting the highest megapixel camera count on your phone. That way you get to enjoy capturing memories that matter most to you.

Display of Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
The design of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro design is like the design of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, which was the quick smartphone to release a 108 MP camera, months ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.
The backbone of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is Snapdragon 865, which unlocks some Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro features such as the 5Gg, support full Wi-Fi 6, and 8k video recording.
Though the design of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro isn’t flashy, it still looks great when it touches the light. The phone has a matte metallic finish, and it’s a good size, slightly bigger than the Huawei P40 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus, which I think is the perfect phone size.
That being said, the phone weighs 208.00 grams, making it not to feel too heavy or too big when it’s in your hand. You get an always-on display fingerprint magnet that allows you to access your phone when you need it.
One side of the phone contains the buttons for power and volume adjustments, and the top of the phone has stereo speaker grills. Also, at the button, there is the USB-C port, a mic, and the Nano sim card slots tray.
Xiaomi says the display on the Mi 10 Pro is the best display that you can find on any Xiaomi phone in the market today. The6.67-inch @ 1080p Super AMOLED display that curves on both sides. The smartphone has 395 PPI, IPS LCD that supports a 90 Hz refresh rate and a 180 Hz sampling rate.
The corning gorilla glass screen feels smoother when scrolling through social media applications such as Instagram or Facebook or when reading books. You have accurate colors on the display with perfect brightness when you are both at home and indoors.
Performance of Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro has an operating system Snapdragon 865, it supports a 5G network and has an 8GB of RAM. You don’t get an expandable micro SD slot with the Mi 10 Pro. So you will have to make do with the storage options that Xiaomi gives you. You get options of either having a 256 GB of storage or 516 GB ROM.
But with significant power, comes great responsibilities and great cooling when you are suing it at max brightness.
The Mi 10 Pro comes with a large vapor chamber, a heat-transmitting gel, and a 6 stack graphite layer that reduces the CPU temperate up to 10 degrees, making your phone stay cool to the touch when you are playing a game.
Xiaomi claims the dual super linear speaker and the 7 magnetic speaker designs are guaranteed to give you the best smart audio speakers. You can turn the volume level up to 15 without worrying about the quality of sound distorting. Or you could also turn it down and still experience a rich sound.
DXOMARK tested the audio and said that it achieved the highest audio quality they have ever tested.
Battery and Charging of Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro supports a 4500 mAh non-removable battery Li-Po, which can last you an entire day without recharging. True to Xiaomi’s claims, the Mi 10 Pro takes about 45 minutes to fully charge with the 50 watts faster charger. One thing for sure is that you will be impressed with the battery performance.
The 50 watts charger is also power delivery compatible, this means that you can also use it to charge your iPad Pro, Mac Book Air, and other compatible devices. You also get fast 30w wireless charging enabling you to quick charging your smartphone.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro supports 5 watts reverse charging, in case you want to top up another phone battery or charge your Bluetooth earphones or a compatible smartwatch.
Camera Capabilities of Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
On its tenth anniversary, the Mi 10 Pro quad camera is here to compete with the world’s greatest devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Gone are the days when Xiaomi delivered on impressive spec sheets but failed to do where it matters the most, the camera.
The rear camera setup has 8MP 10X telephoto camera gives you good zoom cameras.
Shots from the 108MP f/1.69 wide main camera are outstanding. Probably the best photos that you are ever going to take using a smartphone.
12 MP f/2.0 portrait camera gives you flagship-grade photos that have high quality and match colors.
A 20-megapixel camera at night is fantastic when taking pictures in low light, even without night mode.
The Mi10 Pro camera takes excellent photos both during the day and at night. The Huawei P40 Pro still does a fantastic job of taking photos unlike the Mi 10 pro or the Galaxy S 20 ultra.
What impressed me most is the video capability of the Mi 10 Pro. The Snapdragon 865 chipset can capture 8k video with a new spectrum 480p. So, if you are a fan of vlogging or taking videos, you will enjoy the cinematic quality that the camera in the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro.
You can also take selfies pictures using the 20 MP quad bear front-facing camera the details of the phone are good but nothing impressive.
The video footage produced by the 8K@30fps will have you thinking that the videos you took were produced by a cinematic camera. You will be impressed by the video clips that the 4K@30/60fps produces. I would give the video score of 9 out of 10.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro also comes with the following extra features:
- Under display optical fingerprint sensors
- 3 D face scanner
- IR blaster to control appliances
- Support of NFC for mobile payments
- Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot
- Bluetooth 5.1
- Support dual-band A-GPS

Have a look at what some verified purchases from Amazon have to say about this product:
Jared S had an enjoyable experience with the phone.

was very disappointed.
He said, “This is a nice-looking phone, feels comfortable in your hand, great camera. The phone comes packed with apps you don’t need, the screen looks needlessly cluttered as soon as you turn it on. The battery life is terrible.”

This is not the case in 2020. The Mi 10 Pro goes for Ksh. 128,000 which is just as expensive as any other flagship phone.
The Xiaomi Mi10 Pro comes in four colors: lunar silver, cosmic black, alpine white and solstice grey

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra
Months after Xiaomi announced that the Mi 10 Pro will have a 108MP main camera. Samsung released the Galaxy S20 Ultra with a fantastic 6.9 inch dynamic AMOLED display and a 108 MP camera.
Both phones are good, even though they are competing with the specs, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra still beats the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro with a battery life of 5000mAh. Read full review here.
Xiaomi Mi 10
Another great alternative is the Xiaomi Mi 10. Both phones have the same size, design, processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, 8GB RAM, and they equally get a 108MP main camera and 20MP selfie cam.
The Mi 10 has 13 MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro camera, and 2MP depth sensor. The Mi 10 Pro has higher sensor counts on the quad camera’s enabling it to take better photos.
Xiaomi Mi 10 has a 4780 mAh battery capacity and supports 30 watts fast charging, while the Pro version has a 4500 mAh battery capacity and it supports 50 watts fast charging.
One important thing to note is the fact that the Mi 10 costs 80,000 while the Mi 10 Pro goes for 128,000.
Huawei P40 Pro
Huawei also released their latest flagship phone, the P40 Pro with a 6.58 inch OLED screen, and a battery capacity of 4200mAh. All the specs of this phone are lower than that of the Mi 10 Pro.
The camera quality of the Huawei P40 Pro will surprise you, the phone produces a better camera with its optical zoom stabilization.
Is Xiaomi Pro 10 worth buying?
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro has earned its strides and can be compared with the Huawei P40 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Part of what you are paying for when buying an expensive phone is the brand prestige that comes with it. And I don’t think Xiaomi has earned the prestigious brand of loyalty to charge over 100,000.
This phone is a worthy upgrade!
Who would have ever thought Xiaomi famously known for its budget phone would offer one of the best cutting-edge devices on the market?
You get a beautifully built, high refresh rate AMOLED screen, the best camera experiences, and an exceptional audio stereo speaker.
At 128, 000Kenyan shillings this is one of the most expensive phones Xiaomi has ever made when you compare it with other flagship phones such as the Huawei P40 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, this phone deserves to be listed as one of the best phones.
If you are okay with the price tag, we definitely recommend that you get this phone.
